Sometimes just one voice can set off a ripple effect of inspiration and dreams for all who hear that voice… and this is certainly the case with Megan Tamte and her dream to reimagine and create a better retail experience. Megan’s vision to create this was rooted in her own experience shopping as a new mom and feeling alone and overwhelmed in a dressing room, hence her dream was born. It was around this same time that Megan heard Heather Headley singing on in Aida on Broadway and she left the theater that night feeling empowered and vividly remembers turning to her husband, Mike, and saying, “We can do this.”

Fast forward to today and Megan is the Co-Founder and Co-CEO of EVEREVE, a fashion company with over 90+ retail locations and a vibrant online presence that celebrates women and aims to inspire joy through their love of fashion. Through Megan’s story of hearing Heather’s voice and taking action on her own dream, it’s a vivid reminder to Megan - and a core belief of hers -  that we’re all connected... and that courage is contagious. And, furthermore, it’s a meaningful example that we all need to live from the heart and share our voices... as you never know who will be listening and who we might inspire.

This past fall I was very fortunate to be able to have dinner with Megan here in Colorado. She listened quite intently to me about my dream for Advanced Recess and she even followed up with a hand-written card that truly blew me away. She’s been an incredible source of inspiration to me and her encouraging voice has meant so much to me. So, on that note, cheers to people who use their voices - for themselves, for what they believe in and for the hope that they just might inspire at least one person along the way. That’s a kind of PLAY - on or off Broadway - that I’ll always want to be part of!

Here’s more with Megan:

What do you do for play?

I love to play with clothes.

Are you able to make a living from your version of play? If so, tell us more about that.

Yes. I've built a brand that generated over 150 M in annual revenues last year that all started with the fun & passion I had for playing with clothes.

How does play motivate you in your life?

It's so much easier to get out of bed in the morning when you get to play and do the things that make you come alive.

When you think of your ideal day spent playing, what is it?

For me, a big part of play is with people, so anytime I'm creating or doing something I love - with people I love - feels like an ideal day-- whether it is playing with my family, friends, or co-workers. For me, playing with people is the good stuff in life.

Our motto is Pursue a Life of Play. In your own words, what does this mean to you? How do you live it?

For me it means embracing mistakes, trial and error, curiosity, an open heart , the unknown, laughter, learning and not taking yourself too seriously. All of these things I try to practice in my life.
