A life of Recess.

We don’t stop playing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop playing. Isn’t that the truth. The inspiration of Advanced Recess came from my daughter, Holland, who was nine at the time. We were visiting friends in Tabernash, CO and she met a new group of kids for the first time. Shortly after that, I overheard her sharing with them that she had just moved up to the Advanced Math in 3rd grade.

She confidently shared:

“I’m now in Advanced Math, Advanced Reading...well pretty much Advanced everything but Advanced Recess. But if they had it, I’d make it for sure because I’m really good at playing.”

At first, I just kind of laughed and shook my head, but her words really hung in my mind and I felt they were really beautiful and a well articulated concept. That we all need to prioritize more playtime in our life and aim to make the cut for Advanced Recess. That we should all Pursue a Life of Play. \\
