Recess: Oahu Style

They say a picture says a thousand words so here’s my Oahu playbook when it comes to the Advanced Recess that happened there over the holiday stretch. It was fantastic two weeks with my family and, from start to finish, it was a pretty solid play session. From the iconic Waikiki, to the quiet Sunrise Shack just beyond the Bonzai Pipeline, Oahu is full of breathtaking vistas, active beaches, adventurous hikes and an amazing assortment of bars and restaurants. Here’s a look at the recess in action and our AR Oahu Playbook…

Surfing! My nephew, Jack, after catching his first wave along Oahu’s famed North Shore. Little dude brought his board from Australia and it was awesome watching him paddle out to the wild blue yonder.

Hiking! That’s my son, Baden, doing the Pillbox hike near Lanikai. The two of us did it together and it was awesome.

Juggling! Beach soccer was always welcome for some good AR.

Trying new local joints - like Buzz’s Steak House, surfing on Waikiki, sampling Acai wherever we could find it and beach paddle were also all part of the AR playbook!

Spectating the big wave surfers was a favorite activity enjoyed by all. Especially at Off the Wall. It was literally off the wall :)

More Hiking! This time at the Makapuu Lighthouse.

Scouting out cliff jumps, exploring the North Shore, enjoying the finest mai tais and beachcombing all strong parts of the AR Oahu Playbook.

Watching sunsets at Waikiki. Definitely part of Oahu AR!
